Quick and Effective Treatment to Get Rid of Ringworm

The ringworm, also called dermatophytids or tinea is a skin infection caused by fungi and not by a worm, as the name may suggest. It can be spread between humans, between an animal and a person or can be contacted through contaminated surfaces. Tinea can affect the head, face, beard, the bikini line, hands and fingers. It is characterized by round red spots with defined crusty edges, sores and pustules filled with a clear liquid. The risk factors for ringworm can be keeping your skin wet for long time, using public pools, weak immune system, Cushing syndrome, genetics, skin abrasion and trauma.

The ringworm is clinically divided in categories, according to the affected body area:

• Ringworm of the scalp (tinea capitis) – head and scalp
• Ringworm of the body (tinea corporis – torso and extremities
• Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) – feet and in between the fingers
• Jock itch (tinea cruris) – bikini line, groins, inner thighs and buttocks.
• Tinea barbae – beard and neck
• Tinea faciale – face
